At last I have had my knee fixed! I was supposed to have my knee repaired back in April but that was cancelled at the last moment. I went in to hospital on Monday after having them try and cancel me again, and as most of you know I wasn’t gonna be having that!.

I was told to arrive there at 2pm which I did, and was told that here was no bed yet but I would be given bed 13, they even took me down to see the bed with the other poor chap still laying in it! :) After a nice 6 hour wait I was given my nice pre warmed bed and was supposed to have my operation on the Tuesday. At this point they asked me if I wanted to be put in to a slot on Wednesday with some other surgeon who was going to broadcast the op to other hospitals as training in the reconstruction, I did refuse as I really didn’t fancy being filmed and also didn’t want the extra day in hospital as my own operation was set for the Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning the registrar came by to see me about 7am and again tried to talk me in to having the video op on Wednesday but again I refused so they were going to go ahead with the Tuesday slot, by this point i was nil by mouth so was all set. As the day wore on and no answer about what time I was going down I was getting pretty angry, at 5:30pm they told me that they had run out of time and it would now have to be on Wednesday anyway!. I had waited all day nil by mouth so was pretty hungry and really thirsty. All this seemed to be a set up to get this video stuff done.

On Wednesday morning they again asked me about the video op but me being me I point blank refused just to piss them off, I went down in the afternoon with my nasty gown and dodgy paper underwear (Man they itch!!!). I came round straight away just like normal (none of this recovery shit, I’m hardcore!) I had a nice pump inserted back on the ward for some nice morphine on demand which was pretty cool, that experience would take far too long to write down :) .

Well at present I came home yesterday (Friday), I’m in serious pain and can’t sleep, I have a leg brace that make me look like a terminator hybrid, 20 nice staples in my knee and it’s swollen about the size of an adult human head. The real down side is the anti clot stuff that I have to inject for the next six weeks.
