I got fed up with the standard Mac OS X removable media icon on my USB stick so I have made a nice SanDisk Cruzer icon.
All the files are in there for both Mac and Windows. If there is some problem the png’s of the different sizes (16×16 to 512×512) are also in there. For Mac users it’s best to just copy the icon and paste it on the USB stick in the “Get Info” window. Sorry Windows users your on your own. For more info on the Cruzer see USB Flash Drive – Removing U3

Beautiful icon, nice work!
But the 16×16 is truncated for some reason… I only see the left 8×16 of it in the 16×16 space, and the right side is white.
This is in Windows XP. I repaired it using an icon editor and downsampled your 48×48 image of it. But just thought I’d let you know!

Thanks for letting me know. My black Cruzer recently died so I replaced it with the Titanium version. Might make a new version for the new memory stick.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for, thanks! I’d like the Titanium version, too, of you ever get around to it….

Hi,
I’ve been trying to copy the icon to my SanDisk, however, it doesn’t seem to copy properly – putting a blank white paper thing instead. I’ve tried putting the images you provided – nothing works.
I’m running the latest version of Leopard, if that helps.
Could you please get back to me via email? Thanks!

Nevermind!
I got it working… my disk was formatted in the Windows format… not the Mac one.

There should just be a file called sandisk cruzer, i.e not one with sizes etc… Thats the one to use just open getinfo on it and click the icon and copy it. You can always select the icon in the get info pane and press delete to clear and icon back to the default. If your still stuff let me know as back on Tiger (10.4) it used to write the icon to some hidden file. I’m sure it’s fine.

Oh you can use the icon fine on Windows formatted sticks doesn’t make much difference just means the icon will only show up on the mac.

I’m not sure which icon you mean the black or the silver. I don’t have a Windows box so can’t verify the icons on Windows. I’ll ask about and see if I can get someone to test it.
