I have finally got a new camera, I wanted to get a nice SLR like the Canon EOS400D but that was £500 odd quid which I couldn’t justify spending at the moment, I also wanted another portable camera so I got the now discontinued Nikon Coolpix 8700 which as a really nice ED lens and shoots RAW format. I did look at a Fuji 9600 which is an SLR and pretty cheap at £250 but like most things you get what you pay for, the Fuji was pretty noisy and it’s jpeg mode was too compressed and ruined pictures, also it’s RAW mode was odd in that it took the sensor data and interpolated it to some massive size which just wasted storage space and make shot to shot slower. Because of the large sizes of RAW I got a nice super speed 2 gig SanDisk Extreme III Compact Flash card which is pretty speedy, well seems just as fast as saving jpeg on a standard speed card!
