I finished Vulcan 607 by Rowland White just over a week ago and have been meaning to do a post about it. I know that I’m not gonna do it justice, this is one of the best books I have read in a long time. For two days I couldn’t put it down till the mutha was done. It’s a pretty amazing story about the air raid on Port Stanley in the Falklands back in 1982 by my favorite aircraft the Avro Vulcan. This great story contains all the elements that great british war stories normally contain, lack of time to train for the mission, lack of equipment, nice homemade modifications from bits of old stuff, and the final component the crazy plan! It’s goes in to great detail about the amazing Vulcan and the crews that flew them, it’s a great story and I urge anyone who likes military history or even just the Vulcan to have a read of this bad boy.
I told you I couldn’t do it justice, just grab a copy from amazon and have a read.
