Christmas Countdown was the first piece of php code I ever wrote, back then it was a function called daysToChristmas() and was 17 lines of code. This was actually way back on the 14th of December 2005 according to my comments in the source file.

After all these years I thought it’s time for a rewrite, I’ve learnt a lot more since then and seeing as it was originally an exercise to learn some basic php I thought why not have another crack at it now. I rewrote it last week and it was looking much better, today I thought why stop there so I have got rid of the old single image and replaced it with 7 new ones taken fresh today. All images are items from my Christmas tree :) Now you will get a Christmas image at random, and for good measure I’ve also thrown in a few more festive messages for certain days :)

Some of the images may clash with the text colour so I’ll keeping an eye on that and I’ll fixit if it’s really a problem.

Been a while since I posted anything, I have been pretty busy this last month. What do people of the new look simplified looks?

I was getting a bit fed up with the sidebar, most sites have a sidebar which is a good thing as people know what to do. I personally like my little one button menu, what do you think?

It’s still not quite finished in some places but I have some other stuff to be doing at the moment so will have to wait for a month or two. If you spot something thats odd or doesn’t work let me know!

I have been having a problem with trackback spam of late. The spam is the normal buy some viagra and casinos and some other odd stuff which only seems to happen on one particular post. I have installed a plugin to remedy the problem which my cause some problems not sure yet, so if you find a page won’t open or you get some sort of error please let me know a.s.a.p.If anyone one else is using WordPress and having problems with Trackback spam you can get the plugin here. The pluging performs some changes to the mod_rewrite rules to stop the spammers and from lots of reports works very well.UpdateWell that plugin didn’t seem to work very well. I still have the plugin enabled to see if it will help. The only way that seems to have worked was by turning off the ping options.

Looked up Phasenoise in Google’s new blog searching thingy and we are first on the list at the moment!. When searching “Phasenoise Paul Martin” up there again including my datasheet from one of the old sites, think it ranks 3rd link. Better put that page back up so people can see it at the old address.
